Your primary goal is to guide protagonist Soma Cruz through a sprawling castle, defeating enemies and bosses to progress. Moment-to-moment gameplay involves platforming through interconnected rooms and using a variety of weapons and magical attacks to defeat enemies.

A core mechanic is the Tactical Soul system: by defeating enemies, you have a chance to absorb their souls, granting you new permanent abilities, weapons, or magical attacks.
