Overview

This “1944” cartridge is an unofficial NES modification of Capcom’s 1943: The Battle of Midway. It is a ROM hack, not an official Capcom sequel or release.

The underlying game is a vertical-scrolling shooter built from the NES version of 1943. Fly over ocean stages, attack aircraft and ships, collect upgrades and manage the plane’s energy while progressing toward each target.

Hack variants can change the title screen, weapon behavior, starting upgrades or difficulty. Because copies circulate with different modifications, verify the behavior of the loaded build instead of relying on instructions for one specific cartridge.

How to Play

Check the browser player’s NES controls and test both action buttons. Steer with the directional pad, fire at incoming formations and watch the energy meter while avoiding concentrated shots.

Collect upgrades from enemy formations and learn what the loaded hack changes. Preserve energy during ordinary waves so that stronger attacks remain available for ships and bosses.

Treat the title as an unofficial 1943 variant. If a guide for “1944” does not match the loaded game, consult instructions for the NES version of 1943 and then account for the hack’s differences.
