Ridge Racer Type 4

Your primary goal in Ridge Racer Type 4 is to win races in the Grand Prix circuit by mastering high-speed drifting. The core gameplay involves accelerating, braking, and sliding your car around wide, sweeping tracks.

To initiate a drift, you typically let off the accelerator, turn sharply, and then accelerate again to maintain momentum through the corner. Success depends on finding the perfect racing line and timing your drifts to carry maximum speed out of turns.

As a beginner, focus on learning the track layouts and practicing the drift mechanic without hitting walls, as collisions slow you down significantly. In the early stages of a race, concentrate on clean driving to build up your nitrous boost, which can be deployed for a crucial speed burst on straights.

During tense moments, such as the final lap, managing your boost and maintaining a smooth, controlled drift is key to overtaking opponents and securing victory. The game rewards a rhythmic, flowing driving style over pure top speed.
