Overview

This Game Boy Advance version of The Legend of Sword and Fairy is an unofficial fan port of Softstar’s DOS RPG. It is not a licensed 2001 Softstar GBA release.

The port attempts to bring Li Xiaoyao’s adventure and the original game’s turn-based role-playing structure to GBA-compatible hardware. Its technical behavior, completeness and presentation may differ from the official DOS and Windows editions.

The previous catalog metadata incorrectly credited Softstar and 2001 as though this were an official product. Those fields are now cleared; Softstar created the source game, not this unidentified handheld port.

How to Play

Check the GBA controls and identify which volume or build is loaded. Explore towns, speak with characters and review the Chinese menu before travelling into combat areas.

Manage party health, techniques, equipment and recovery items during turn-based battles. Expect balance or scripting differences from the official DOS game.

Save often and keep more than one slot. If a DOS walkthrough does not match the map or event sequence, follow the port’s visible objectives instead of forcing the original route.

FAQ

Is the GBA port an official Softstar release?

No. Contemporary reference material distinguishes the GBA version from the licensed Traditional Chinese releases and identifies it as unofficial.

Why were Softstar and 2001 removed from the metadata?

Softstar developed the original PC game, but the available evidence does not support crediting it as developer of this GBA port or treating 2001 as a verified port release year.

Is it identical to the DOS game?

No. It is an unofficial handheld adaptation, so maps, events, balance, presentation and completeness may differ.
