Players command a fleet of flagship units and their accompanying dragons across grid-based tactical battlefields. The core objective is to defeat enemy forces by taking turns to move units, attack, cast magic, and use items. Your dragons act autonomously based on simple tactical commands, and their performance is directly tied to the squads they are paired with. Utilizing the environment is key; for instance, casting fire spells on forests creates burning tiles that damage occupants, while ice spells freeze water to create traversable pathways.

Between combat missions, players must feed items, weapons, and armor to their dragons to trigger mutations and stat increases, which also enhances the stats of the paired human characters. In the early game, focus on feeding dragons a balanced diet to unlock powerful elemental forms. During tense battles, keep your human squads close enough to support their respective dragons, ensuring they do not get overwhelmed by enemy forces.
